And why didn't you come to an agreement with them? like buying the server from them, or paying for the hosting in return of being promoted to head admin. Since you already were an admin in that server, this kind of agreement should have been easier.

Let's not get this topic way out of it. No one had time to run it anymore + the costs for pretty much something you don't have time for. :) And as there were no one who would pick it up, it was done.

Well, actually growing up should mean they have a job now and can fund the server more easily, even if they receive no donations. You say you are 20 years old, and that's the age I started working at.
Anyway, money was the last reason I expected for SAP to be closed.

Managers grew up and soon keeping the server up became too expensive and then it came as a surprise to me too. Unfortunately nothing lasts forever.
