And why didn't you come to an agreement with them? like buying the server from them, or paying for the hosting in return of being promoted to head admin. Since you already were an admin in that server, this kind of agreement should have been easier.

Let's not get this topic way out of it. No one had time to run it anymore + the costs for pretty much something you don't have time for. And as there were no one who would pick it up, it was done.
